Book Now

These days, it’s easier than ever to take a picture, but not all photographs tell rich stories. Meet Louis Bockner—one of West Kootenay’s premiere photojournalists who tells beautiful stories in words and photographs. In this experience, you will learn directly from him in his element. No photography experience or a specific device needed; only your creativity, enthusiasm, and digital camera (phones OK). Photographic story-telling is the art of conveying stories, ideas and viewpoints through the medium of photography. It is a great example of how photography is not just the practice of creating visually interesting or stunning pictures, but is about conveying the story behind them. Louis will prepare the group extensively for their story-telling experience, starting with photographic concepts of light, framing and planning, and a themed freewrite exercise, which will inspire each individual’s photographic story. After a locally-sourced and nutritious snack, you will set off on your quest to capture your own moments in time. Take your time to savour your newfound perspective, hear the wind in the trees, and slow down a little to really take it all in. At the end of your day, feed the human spirit and share your story, in a way you are comfortable with. Live, create, tell the story….repeat.

About Louis Bockner, Experience Collaborator

I was born and raised in the rural paradise of Argenta, BC, and, after stints in Nelson and Victoria, have returned to settle into this beautiful place I call home. With diplomas from the New York Institute of Photography and the Western Academy of Photography in Professional Photography, Journalism and Photojournalism, I have spent the past five years working primarily as a portrait and festival photographer in the West Kootenays and beyond. Aside from photography, I also love good food, fishing, and the human race despite our many shortcomings. Louis Bockner Photography Louis Bockner on Facebook
