The year is 1891 and David Kane has his work cut out for him….not only has he had to survive for a whole year on his own at the proposed Kaslo townsite, he now has a workgang to train to help clear the expansive forest in order to lay out plans for the town. Good thing he has had a whole year to hone his own survival skills—by the look of these recruits, they definitely need some learnin’! Become one of David Kane`s “Workgang” to learn how loggers and prospectors newly arrived to the wild west of Kaslo would have lived off the land using bush skills in the year 1891.
We invite you to not only learn a few valuable skills for surviving in the great outdoors, but also get immersed about Kaslo’s early history in celebration of Kaslo’s 125`s Anniversary. In this character-based experience, Kaslo’s first official resident, David Kane will teach you outdoor survival skills such as fire-making or shelter-building, both essential skills to survive in the wild west of Kaslo in 1891. Bring the whole group/team to get into character (costumes included!), have some fun, and learn about the original skills and time-tested technologies of our ancestors. As new recruits to David Kane`s workgang, there’s much to learn, and much fun to be had!
